Traffic stop turns into drug bust

Chatham-Kent police pulled a 26-year-old woman and her vehicle off the road after allegedly finding some drugs during a traffic stop in Chatham.

Police said they pulled over the vehicle on McNaughton Avenue near Sandys Street in Chatham Monday night.

Officers said at that time, they learned the woman was suspended from driving for unpaid fines and allegedly found some fentanyl and methamphetamine on her when they searched her.

A 26-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with driving under suspension and two counts of drug possession before she was released with conditions and a future court date.

The woman's vehicle was also towed from the scene and impounded for seven days.

Chatham woman hits husband in the face, damages his truck

A 25-year-old Chatham woman is facing a pair of charges after an argument with her common-law husband took a violent turn.

Chatham-Kent police said the woman is accused of hitting her husband in the face with "an item made of glass" during an argument at their residence in Chatham early Monday morning. Police said after that, she allegedly left the residence and hit his truck with a chair.

The man went to the hospital in Chatham for treatment of undisclosed injuries after the incident.

The woman accused of hitting him was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and mischief. She was then taken to the courthouse for a bail hearing and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Dresden man charged with assault, forcible confinement

A 50-year-old Dresden man is in trouble with the law in connection with a series of alleged domestic assaults.

Police said they arrested him after they responded to a disturbance at a residence in Dresden Monday afternoon and learned it was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.

The accused was arrested and charged with five counts of assault along with one count of forcible confinement.

He was taken to police headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Thamesville woman accused of assaulting common-law husband

A 25-year-old woman is charged with assault after police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Thamesville Monday night.

Officers said they arrested the woman after learning that she had allegedly assaulted her common-law husband over the weekend.

The accused was arrested and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
