Provincial government prompts discussion about industrial electricity prices

The Ontario government is looking to hear from business owners regarding industrial electricity pricing and programs.

MPP Greg Rickford, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, met with those in the agriculture and chemical industry in Chatham on Friday. The consultation was one of many in-person meetings that are scheduled to take place across the province.

“We want to hear firsthand from the agriculture and chemicals sectors on how we can improve our electricity system to make businesses more competitive,” said Rickford in a statement. “We need to ensure our job-creating industries can thrive in Ontario with fair electricity prices.”

In order to get the conversation started and hear from residents, the provincial government has posted some questions online at ontario.ca. Residents can have their say through the consultation process by submitting their opinions until June 14.
