UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning ends

The morning commute may still be a wet one on Thursday for parts of southwestern Ontario, but the biggest threat of thunderstorms has passed.

Environment Canada has ended its severe thunderstorm warning that was issued Thursday morning for Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex.

Forecasters issued the warning while they were monitoring scattered strong thunderstorms that developed to the west of Lake Michigan and were expected to track eastward and southeastward overnight.

There was "considerable uncertainty" regarding the development and strength of the storm, but Environment Canada said it had the potential for isolated wind gusts of 90 kilometres per hour and hail.
