Drunk driver nabbed by police 

Chatham-Kent police busted a man going for an afternoon drive while intoxicated. It happened Friday around 4:45 p.m. after police got a call about a possible impaired driver in the area of Keil Drive and Grand Avenue West.

Officers located the vehicle and the 39-year-old was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The Windsor man was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for a breathalyzer, which he refused. As a result, he was also charged with refusing a breath test. Once sober, he was released with a promise to appear at a future court date.

Intoxicated man arrested 

On Friday, officers and EMS units were dispatched to the area of Grand Avenue East in Chatham to respond to reports of a suspicious male. They found a 30-year-old man lying near the road. He was intoxicated by drug and unable to care for himself.

The Windsor man was arrested and police found out he had a warrant out for his arrest for theft charges. He was transported to the Windsor Police Station.

RIDE program a success 

Police in Chatham-Kent conducted several RIDE checks across the municipality Friday with a positive outcome. Out of the 350 vehicles checked, three field sobriety tests were issued with no impaired charges being laid
