One washing machine stolen, another broken into

Chatham-Kent police are looking for leads after someone targeted an apartment building's laundry room in Wallaceburg and made a clean getaway.

Officers said they were called to the scene on Wallace Street after someone stole a white 'coin-matic' industrial-sized front-loading washing machine from the basement of the building.

The washing machine that was reported stolen has an estimated value of $2,000.

Police said a second washing machine was also damaged, adding that whoever broke in also caused about $500 in damage trying to remove coins from the second machine.
