Pre-trial date set for suspended CK cop accused of sexual assault

A sexual assault case involving a suspended Chatham-Kent police officer continues to move ahead.

Constable Andrew Jaconelli's case will return to the courts for a judicial pre-trial on June 14, 2019, the Ontario Court of Justice heard Tuesday morning.

Jaconelli has been suspended from the police force with pay since December 14, 2018, after he was charged with one count of sexual assault and assault with a weapon. Those charges stem from an off-duty incident in November 2017.

He was charged with an additional count of the sexual assault in January 2019 in connection with an off-duty incident in August 2018.

The names of the victims are being protected by a publication ban.

CK police have also charged Jaconelli with two counts of discreditable conduct under the Police Services Act and the police's Professional Standards Branch is conducting further internal investigations into the matter.

Jaconelli was granted conditional bail in January.
