UPDATE: One person airlifted to hospital after Highway 401 rollover near Ridgetown

One person is being treated for non-life threatening injuries after a transport truck rollover on the eastbound Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

Provincial police closed the on and off ramps in the eastbound lanes of the highway at Kent Bridge Road after the crash, which took place at approximately 6 a.m. Monday.

Those ramps remained closed during the investigation. However, the Ministry of Transportation said the ramps reopened to traffic around 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.

The lone occupant of the transport truck that rolled over was treated at the scene by local paramedics before they handed the patient over to Ornge air ambulance staff who transported the patient to a regional trauma centre.

OPP said more information will be provided as it becomes available.
