Investigations launched into property crimes

A growing number of property crimes in South Lambton have prompted provincial police to pursue several investigations.

Lambton County OPP have arrested two men in their 30s after responding to some suspicious activity in St. Clair Township Sunday afternoon.

Police said a pick-up truck was located on Charlemont Line on April 21 around 1:15 p.m. Officers later found that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Wallaceburg area a few hours prior. Two men who were reportedly spotted with the vehicle were not there when officers arrived. Officers said the two men were instead found walking on Kimball Road, where they were both arrested.

A 30-year-old man from Wallaceburg has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of break-in instruments. A 33-year-old man from Walpole Island is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

"The OPP is very aware of the property crimes occurring in South Lambton and continue to [vigorously] pursue same. Currently, there are several investigations underway. The OPP anticipates additional information, arrests and charges in relation to these property crimes," police said in a media release.
