Trespassing at the downtown condo project

Some noise at the Boardwalk Apartments in downtown Chatham early Wednesday morning tipped off an observant officer to an alleged trespasser.

Chatham-Kent police said an officer who was on general patrol at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, checking the Fifth Street Bridge construction area and the apartment project, heard a noise coming from the apartments, so officers were called in and found a man inside.

As a result of their investigation, police arrested a 21-year-old Chatham man and charged him with trespassing.

Police continued to search the area after making the arrest, but they didn't find anyone else in the building and didn't see any damage, either.
