A new event is coming to Chatham-Kent that highlights women in leadership.

The first annual Chatham-Kent Women Leadership Network Panel and Networking Night will be held next month. The evening will include a panel discussion that examines leadership from a variety of perspectives including professional development and education.

Jordan Sinclair, PhD and data scientist with Vertias, will moderate the event and said it’s a great opportunity for professional women and entrepreneurs to develop their leadership skills.

“There is so much opportunity for people in Chatham-Kent and it’s my hope that by coming together as women, we can help each other discover ways to build connections that motivate and inspire us to take advantage of those opportunities,” said Sinclair. “I’ve had some great conversations with women who want to do things such as launch coding classes, meet to learn more about work-life balance techniques or even do fun networking activities such as business speed dating.”

After the panel discussion, there will be a chance for networking and to speak one-on-one with panellists.

“Holding this open event is really important to me because I see other communities that have strong leadership groups for women and I want to help bring back something that has become quiet over the past few years,” said Katie Vilaranda, owner of Position One SEO. “There are so many wonderful women that bring so much knowledge to the table that we are hoping this event will be the catalyst for future leadership activities.”

The event takes place from on May 15 at Sons of Kent in Chatham from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is free to attend. Learn more about the event or register by clicking here.
