Speeder caught by police 

A day of routine traffic enforcement ended badly for a man who was going way faster than he should have been.

Officers in the traffic unit were monitoring vehicles on Fairview Line yesterday when they caught the 22-year-old Blenheim man travelling 131 km/hr in an 80 zone.

He was charged with stunt driving. As a result, his vehicle has been impounded and licence suspended for a week.

Man charged with impaired driving 

A 19-year-old Chatham man is facing some charges after getting busted by police.

It started around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning after officers received a traffic complaint about a vehicle in Harwich Township. Once police located the vehcile they suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests and is facing charges of adult operation while impaired and adult operation while impaired 80 plus.  He was released pending a future court date.

Tool thief on the lose 

Police are searching for the person or people responsible for stealing some tools.

According to police, it happened sometime between Thursday evening and Friday morning. The suspect(s) got inside a building on Gillard Street in Wallaceburg by forcing their way in. Once in the building, approximately $2,500 worth of tools were stolen.
