Police search for wire thief

Police are investigating after a large amount of copper wiring was stolen from a Chatham business.

It happened sometime between Thursday morning and Friday evening. The unknown suspect or suspects forced their way into a Bell compound on Queen Street.

They got away with around $5,000 in wiring.

Pair steals pairs of eyeglasses

Two people are in trouble with the law after stealing from an eyeglass store in Chatham.

It happened on March 25 when a man and woman entered the store on St. Clair Street. The two grabbed three pairs of glasses and left without paying for them.

Police were able to identify them after reviewing security footage.

A 31-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained in a crime. She has since been released with a future court date.

The man is currently outstanding on the charges.

 Police investigate suspicious person     

Police have some questions after a man was found with a bear trap on his hand.

It all started on Thursday night near Thamesville. Officers were called after residents reported a suspicious person walking down Longwoods Road.

When police arrived to investigate, they realized the man who was walking down the road had a bear trap on his hand.

His injuries were treated by paramedics and he was taken to the hospital.
