Curative Cannabis holding job fair

A new business coming to Chatham-Kent is holding a job fair to fill nearly 30 positions.

Curative Cannabis is a facility licenced to grow medical and recreational marijuana. The business, located at 10078 Longwoods Road in Chatham, is currently under construction and is scheduled to open late this year.

The company will be looking to hire a variety of positions including grow technicians, harvesters and several administrative roles. Many of the roles are expected to be full-time.

"It's a wide range," said Vice President of Business Development Brenleigh Knutson. "All kinds of range with education base and some a little bit more entry level. There's definitely a great selection for a lot of people to come out depending on what kind of position they're looking for."

According to Knutson, the type of education and skill sets they are looking for varies with each role but she said they want workers who will fit into a positive environment.

"We are looking for people that are dependable, who are actively searching for a job that will give them a wonderful environment, we want to keep the morale of our company up there," she said.

Attendees are invited to join one of two presentations that will give an introduction to management and hear their goals for the company. The first presentation will start at 2:30 p.m. and the second repeat presentation will start at 5:45 p.m.

Following each presentation, attendees will have a chance to meet with Curative Cannabis staff and complete a job application. Once attendees have completed their job applications, they will go to the pre-screen table where they will be scheduled for an immediate interview or will be called later for follow up.

Knutson said it may be a long hiring process but they are hoping to have everyone hired on by later summer or early fall 2019.

"We're excited to have this event in Chatham. We're excited to work with Chatham-Kent and meet the community have their involvement and we're just excited that we're in such a great spot. Even if they're not interested in job positions, it's nice to have people come out that are interested in the company and learn about us," said Knutson.

The job fair will take place on Wednesday, April 10 at the Active Lifestyle Centre in Chatham from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
