Traffic stop turns up drugs

Two people in their 30s are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police allegedly found some crystal methamphetamine and a knife after pulling over a vehicle just outside of Chatham.

Police said they stopped the vehicle on Prince Albert Road Thursday night and learned that the 35-year-old Chatham woman who was behind the wheel had previously been ordered to stay inside her residence at all times.

Officers said they also allegedly found a knife in the area where she was sitting, so she was charged with disobeying a court order and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The passenger, a 38-year-old Chatham man, was also allegedly breaching his release conditions because he was out of his residence without his surety.

Police said they also found some crystal meth in the vehicle, so both of the accused were also charged with drug possession.

They were both taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
