Two men arrested in connection to break and enter

It was a scary sight for a Chatham homeowner on Saturday morning.

Police said around 6:30 a.m. the homeowner woke up and found two men in his house trying to steal electronics.

The men had forced their way into the home. They fled after being confronted by the owner.

Police were able to locate and arrest the people responsible.

A 46-year-old Chatham man has been charged with breaking and entering and was eventually released from police custody with a future court date.

A 32-year-old man, also from Chatham, is charged with breaking and entering as well as failing to comply with conditions. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Early morning business break and enter

Two men are in trouble with the law after police found them inside a business in Chatham that they had allegedly broken into.

According to police, it happened around 3 a.m. Sunday. Officers responded to an alarm that had gone off at the business. When they arrived at the scene, police noticed a hole in the fence around the business's property. After searching the property, they found the two men inside the business.

A 39-year-old man from Blenheim and a 49-year-old from Chatham have been charged with breaking and entering.

Both of them have been released with a future court date.

Traffic Lights during Power Outages

Police are issuing a reminder to drivers after the massive power outage on Saturday night left much of Chatham-Kent in the dark.

Several traffics lights were not functioning as a result of the outage and police would like to remind residents that in that situation, intersections are treated as an all-way stop.
