Police caution parents with young children

A girl found wandering on her own in Chatham is home safe thanks to a Good Samaritan and Chatham-Kent police.

Around 7 a.m. Monday, a woman called police for help after finding a five-year-old girl on Bear Line Road near Dale Drive. The woman kept the child safe until police arrived.

Officers found out that the girl lived in the nearby area and took her home.

As police are thanking the woman who called 911, they are also issuing a reminder to parents to talk to their kids to make sure they know important information such as where they live, their full name, and a home phone number. Should a child become lost or separated from a parent or guardian, this information will help officers in a more timely manner.
