Event planning 101 info session in Chatham-Kent

There are still hoops to jump through when planning events but municipal staff are hoping to make the process a little easier.

Residents who are planning to organize an event on municipal property -- which includes parks, arenas, and roadways -- are required to fill out a "special event" application. To help organizers better understand the process, an information workshop will be held in April.

“Although the process isn’t arduous, it is necessary to ensure public safety,” said Jeff Bray, manager of parks and open spaces. “Organizers planning events on municipal property are required to make [an] application. We are striving to make the process efficient and easy.”

The workshop will take place at the Civic Centre in Chatham on April 10, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
