No impaired drivers from St. Paddy's Day RIDE checks

A handful of drivers are facing charges after more than 500 vehicles were stopped during Chatham-Kent's annual St. Patrick's Day RIDE checks.

None of the charges were for impaired driving, though.

Chatham-Kent police said they stopped approximately 230 vehicles Sunday afternoon in Wheatley and Ridgetown and then another 350 in Blenheim and Chatham Sunday night.

Five roadside tests were conducted, four drivers were charged with having expired validation stickers, one driver was charged with driving under suspension, one driver was charged with having cannabis in the vehicle, and one driver who was charged with driving while under suspension was also charged with having cannabis in the vehicle and being in possession of shatter.

Woman charged with assault

A 34-year-old Wallaceburg woman is charged with assault after police responded to a disturbance call in a parking lot on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg Sunday morning.

Police said a 39-year-old Wallaceburg woman was treated at the Sydenham District Hospital for undisclosed injuries as a result of the incident.

The accused was arrested, charged with assault, and released with conditions and a future court date.

Three arrests on outstanding warrants

A 38-year-old Wallaceburg man, a 22-year-old Harwich Township man, and a 50-year-old Chatham Township man were all rounded up by local police over the past 24 hours.

Police said the Wallaceburg man was arrested Sunday afternoon in connection with some domestic-related offences -- he was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

The Harwich Township man was arrested Sunday night for failing to comply with his probation order and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

The Chatham Township man turned himself in at police headquarters in Chatham early Monday morning in connection with a domestic-related assault investigation and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Trailer, Ski-Doo, motorcycle motor reported stolen

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a 2005 black Triton trailer that was reported stolen over the weekend.

Police said the trailer was taken sometime between 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Sunday and was last seen with Ontario license plate N75 44R from a residence on Croton Line.

The trailer reportedly had a 1979 Ski-Doo and Honda Ascot 500 motor inside of it at the time.

White BMW stolen from Chatham parking lot

Chatham-Kent police are also trying to find a white 2008 BMW that was reported stolen from a parking lot on Grand Avenue West in Chatham sometime between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday.

The vehicle was last seen with the personalized licence plates ICEMANN1.
