Traffic stop leads to drug charges

A 40-year-old man spent the night in police custody after police allegedly found some illegal drugs in a vehicle during a traffic stop in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said an officer found some suspected crystal methamphetamine in a vehicle that was pulled over on Colborne Street at around 8 p.m. Thursday because it didn’t have any licence plates.

The driver was arrested and charged with drug possession, possession of stolen property, and breach of probation. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two arrests on outstanding warrants

A 24-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman turned themselves in at police headquarters Thursday — one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.

Police said they were both wanted on undisclosed outstanding warrants adding that they were both later released with future court dates.
