Celebrating International Women's Day in CK

The Chatham-Kent Women's Centre is taking some time to mark International Women's Day.

"We just wanted to celebrate women and their accomplishments and their successes, and everything that women do each and every day," said Executive Director Karen Hunter.

They are hosting a lunch on Friday, March 8 from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Women's Centre on Sandys Street in Chatham. It's open to everyone, they're just asking people to bring along a non-perishable or toiletry item to donate.

"It's an opportunity for people to come into the centre and see what we do, and even have a tour of the agency," said Hunter.

Hunter added that it's also a chance to highlight the struggles women are facing.

"Very important that we recognize violence against women, and what is taking place in our community, and across not only our country but internationally. The difficulties that women face each and every day."
