Maroons eliminated after Game 5 loss to the Kings

The Chatham Maroons are out of the GOJHL playoffs after falling 6-1 to the Komoka Kings in Game 5 on Thursday.

The Kings struck first by scoring the only goal of the opening period, but Griffin Robinson scored for Chatham 4:24 into the second frame to tie things up.  Unfortunately for Chatham, Komoka was able to score three back-to-back goals before the third to take the lead heading into the final period.

The Kings added another two unanswered goals in the third to cap off their win.

Maroons Captain Dane Johnstone said the series against Komoka lacked the significant offence to get the job done.

"We didn't have one good, nice, pretty goal in this entire series. It was all garbage goals and we didn't get to the net enough," he said. "[The Kings] got to all of their rebounds and they were able to capitalize on theirs and beat us."

Komoka beat the Maroons 4-1 in the best-of-seven series.

The Kings will now move on to the western conference semi-finals.
