Wallaceburg high school re-opens after threat found Thursday

School should be back to somewhat normal at Wallaceburg's public high school after a potential threat prompted school board officials to close the building last week Friday.

In a release issued Friday afternoon, officials with the Lambton Kent District School Board said Chatham-Kent police are still investigating, but officers do not believe there is an imminent threat to public safety and recommended that Wallaceburg District Secondary School should re-open to students and staff on Monday.

Police were at the school on Friday and "will continue to be a presence in the school on Monday" as their investigation continues.

Members of the LKDSB's psychological services and school-based supports teams will also be on hand at WDSS to speak with students.

Anyone with information that may help police with their investigation is asked to contact Constable Derek Shaw at dereks@chatham-kent.ca or 519-358-4136. Anonymous callers can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.
