Nominations open for CK Senior of the Year

Chatham-Kent residents are encouraged to nominate some seasoned upstanding volunteers within the community for the 32nd annual Senior Achievement Awards.

The municipality of Chatham-Kent is looking for nominations ahead of the Senior Expo, which is scheduled in conjunction with Senior's Month in June. The goal behind the nomination process is to recognize people who are 55 and older, that contribute to the community through volunteer efforts.

“We have so many seniors who volunteer their time and effort to make Chatham-Kent an amazing community,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff in a statement. "I encourage anyone who knows of a deserving individual to nominate them.”

Nomination forms are available at all municipal centres, public libraries, and Seniors’ Centres within Chatham-Kent. Nomination forms can also be found online.

An impartial committee, endorsed by the mayor, will go through the nominations to select Chatham-Kent's Senior of the Year.

Award presentations will take place at 11 a.m. on June 7, during the 2019 Chatham-Kent Senior Expo and Achievement Awards at the Blenheim Recreation Centre.
