TekSavvy's new service expands in Ontario, eventually Quebec

A new TV service launched by TekSavvy and its affiliated cable company is expanding to the nation's capital.

The Chatham-based internet provider along with Hastings Cable Vision announced Tuesday that it is now offering the TV services in Ottawa.

TekSavvy TV is fairly new and just launched in Chatham-Kent at the beginning of February.

Jeremy McCarthy, TekSavvy’s director of video product management & marketing, said the company's success on the home front is only fueling plans for future expansions.

"We're hovering at about 150 subscribers [in Chatham-Kent] with a minimal amount of marketing that we put behind it," said McCarthy. "The feedback we're getting has been instrumental in helping us develop the next set of features for this product."

McCarthy said the services will launch in several other areas -- both in Ontario and outside the province -- within the next six to eight months.

"We hope to have television service available to all of our customers in Ontario and eventually into Quebec as well," he said. "We have a large base here in Ontario as well as in the province of Quebec and we want to make sure those customers can get access to TekSavvy TV."

McCarthy said he stands by the quality of video the new service provides, adding that he has been "blown away" by it. He also said that many Chatham-Kent residents appear to enjoy the service as well.

"The feedback we've been getting has been excellent," he said.
