What's open and closed this Family Day

There are several attractions open for Family Day but there are also some closures residents may want to note.

All arenas -- except for the Ridgetown Arena -- will be open. The Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool will be open for free swims from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Capitol Theatre in Chatham will be open for a free movie showing at 2 p.m.

Public libraries that are usually open on Monday's will have no exception for February 18. The Thames Art Gallery and the Chatham-Kent Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Uncle Tom's Cabin will have tours from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

In the meantime, Family Day also means the closure of municipal offices. Entegrus, the Public Utilities Commission, the Health and Family Services building, the Employment Resource Centres, and the building for Employment and Social Services will all be closed on Monday.

CK Transit services will not be available for Family Day.

All Leaf and Yard Depots will be closed. Garbage and recycling collection will be delayed by one day.

Some services at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance's Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will also be altered or unavailable for Family Day. Routine x-rays, electrocardiograms, and ultrasounds will only be available for emergencies. The mental health and addictions program out-patient department will be closed, however, the crisis line will be open at 1-866-299-7447. Out-patient lab services and the pre-surgical screening department will also be closed.

As per usual, emergency departments at the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will remain open 24 hours daily. Municipal emergency services such as police, fire and EMS will also be available.
