Community café planned for transportation feedback

Chatham-Kent is looking for public input when it comes to transportation across the municipality.

As they get ready to update their transportation master plan, municipal staff will be hosting a community café to give residents a chance to voice their opinions.

"To try to get a feel of what things are are important to the residents, any areas that need to be changed or improved," said Mark Ceppi, engineering technologist for Chatham-Kent.

Topics planned to be discussed at the meeting are transportation-related issues, programs and policies involving transit, active transportation and parking.

"At the community café we're going to have a few stations set up," said Ceppi. "We'll discuss different items in the transportation master plan and get feedback directly from the people during that round table discussion."

Ceppi said they will incorporate the feedback they get into the draft transportation master plan. They will go out into the community again after the draft plan is complete to get further input from residents.

The community café will take place on February 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Thames Campus Arena in Chatham.

Anyone who wishes to attend is encouraged to pre-register by contacting Steve Taylor by email at stevenjtaylorbteng.ca or by phone at 519-672-2222.
