Construction is going as planned on the new $36 million Cascades Casino in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent municipality workers and councillors got their first tour of the building on Tuesday.

President and CEO of Gateway Casinos Tony Santo, who came to the municipality for the event, said working with Chatham-Kent on has been a great experience so far.
"It's just been a great relationship, teamwork and really getting this project going, even from the infancy stage all the way until now," he said.
The 45,280 square foot casino will feature over 300 slots, 12 table games, a restaurant and a buffet.
Mayor Darrin Canniff said he's excited for the positive impact the casino will have on the local economy.
"It's an attraction for Chatham-Kent," said Canniff. "This is one more piece of the puzzle to bring people here and make Chatham-Kent a destination."
The casino originally planned to open mid-2019. While Santo wouldn't give an estimated date of opening, he said the project is ahead of schedule.
