Booze stolen from LCBO

A 36-year-old Chatham man has been charged in connection with a theft at the LCBO on Wellington Street in Chatham.

Police said a man allegedly walked into the store Wednesday afternoon and stole a 1.15L bottle of Captain Morgan’s spiced rum and a 750ml bottle of Bacardi Oakheart spiced rum.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect in the case and arrested him early Friday morning.

The accused was charged with theft and possession of stolen property and then released with conditions and a future court date.

Text messages, stolen licence plate lead to charges

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 54-year-old man in connection with a domestic-related incident.

Police said the man is accused of texting a specific woman who he was previously ordered not to communicate with.

Officers said when they arrested the man Thursday night, they also found the woman's rear licence plate in his possession -- it had been removed from her vehicle earlier in the day.

A 54-year-old Chatham man is now charged with failing to comply and possession of stolen property. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested on warrant

A 36-year-old Chatham man has turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

Police said a warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to attend court on January 15.

He was arrested and taken to the courthouse pending a court hearing.
