CK police briefs – Monday, January 28, 2019

The Chatham-Kent police asking for the public’s help identifying two men in connection with a theft investigation over the weekend in Thamesville.

Man Charged with Assault

A Chatham man allegedly assaulted two family members over the weekend.

Police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham Sunday night where they learned a man assaulted two members of his family.

A 38-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault. He was released pending a future court date of February 19.

Break and Enter in Chatham

A PlayStation 4 was stolen during a break and enter over the weekend in Chatham.

Police said the incident took place sometime this past weekend when an unknown number of people broke into a residence on St. Clair Street and stole the gaming system.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

Police arrested a man Sunday night for failing to appear in court.

The charges stem from an incident on August 25, 2018, when the man was released from custody for failing to comply and uttering threats.

He failed to attend court on September 21, 2018 and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Police located him and arrested the 22-year-old Wallaceburg man who is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Citizen’s Police Academy

Residents of Chatham-Kent have a chance to get a more in-depth view of the police force if they want to.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service announced it will offer the Citizen’s Police Academy beginning March 6, 2019.  In a release, police said the program is meant to enhance the partnership between the citizens of CK and the police service through an interactive educational opportunity.

There will be 12 classes every Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Applications are now available and the deadline to apply is February 22. Anyone looking for more information is asked to go to the police website.
