The Chatham-Kent Police Service will launch a new initiative this Wednesday.
A number of local police officers will be at the McDonald's on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
"We're going to be there from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and anyone is welcome to attend," said Constable Renee Cowell. "Coffee with a cop is really designed to bring police officers together with the community in an effort to improve trust, and build relationships."
Cowell added that it will be two hours of casual conversation.
"We really want to get to know the people in the communities we serve, and in return we want you to get to know us. We want you to be able to look past the uniform and get to know that we are also part of this community, on and off duty," she said.
A number of officers from different departments will be there to answer questions.
"The chief of police will be there, along with members from our community mobilization team, traffic unit, recruiting, courts," said Cowell. "We will have a big selection of officers there, along with our front line officers, the ones that you will see driving a cruiser throughout the streets of Chatham."
Everyone who attends will get a free small coffee from McDonald's.
