Snowmobiles targeted by thieves

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to locate some snowmobiles and a trailer that were stolen from a residence on Talbot Trail in Port Alma.

Police said they were taken sometime between Saturday and Monday. The trailer is described as a 2003 grey Floe snowmobile trailer -- last seen with license plate A7024M.

The snowmobiles that were inside it are described as a 2003 red Polaris NP6 snowmobile -- last seen with the license plate 898663 and a 2003 blue Polaris NP6 snowmobile -- last seen with the license plate 898664.

Two cottages broken into in Howard Township

Police are looking for leads -- and some stolen TVs -- after two break-ins at a pair of cottages on Erie Shore Drive.

Investigators said the break-in took place sometime since October, adding that unknown suspects forced their way into two cottages and stole three televisions.

Laptops stolen during break-in

If you know anything about a break-in on Blythewood Crescent in Chatham Monday afternoon, police would like to hear from you.

Officers are investigating after someone forced their way into a residence on that street, causing about $500 in damage before taking off with a MacBook Air laptop and an Acer Nitro 5 laptop.

Those laptops have a combined estimated value of $3,000.

Man charged in connection with alleged domestic assault

A 29-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with two counts of assault -- including one with a weapon -- after an argument Monday afternoon took a violent turn.

Chatham-Kent police said the man is accused of assaulting and threatening his common-law wife after they got into a verbal argument.

In addition to the assault and uttering threats charges, officers said the man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant. He was being held custody pending a bail hearing.
