Truck towed after parts fell off it on the 401

A tractor trailer losing parts on the highway got the attention of police over the weekend.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police, officers were called around 8:45 p.m. Friday for a complaint about a transport truck's rear bumper falling off and its rear doors being unsecured on Hwy. 401.

Police were able to locate and stop the truck near the border of Chatham-Kent and Elgin County.  Further investigation revealed out the truck had been involved in a collision earlier that day in Michigan.

The collision caused significant damage to the trailer's rear lights and trailer brakes, and compromised the structural integrity of the trailer.

The 45-year-old male driver from Brampton was charged with operating an unsafe vehicle and not properly documenting trip inspection. The vehicle was towed from the highway.
