Motorcycle, electronics, tools stolen from building

Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers is appealing to the public for tips to help police solve a recent break-in in the Ridgetown area.

Police said someone forced their way into a building on Albert Street sometime between January 13 and January 17 and took off with some tools, some electronics, and a motorcycle that were all inside. The stolen goods have a combined estimated value of $20,000.

Investigators believe the suspects had a vehicle at the location as well because the amount of property that was stolen was too large to have been carried away by someone on foot.

Anyone who has information that may help police with their investigation is asked to contact Chatham-Kent police or Crime Stoppers.

Driver arrested again following further investigation

A 39-year-old Chatham man is facing another charge now after a run-in with police earlier this month.

Chatham-Kent police said the man was initially charged after officers pulled him over on Colborne Street in Chatham and discovered that his driver's licence was suspended and the licence plates on the truck he was driving weren't authorized for that vehicle.

Investigators later learned that the plates on the truck were reported stolen from a residence in Chatham, so officers tracked down the man Sunday night and charged him with possession of stolen property.

He was later released from custody with conditions and a future court date.

Out past a court-imposed curfew

A 28-year-old Blenheim man is in more trouble with the law after police allegedly caught him out past his curfew.

Police said the man was released from custody on December 4, 2018 with several conditions, including a requirement to obey a daily curfew by staying in his residence between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Officers said they spotted him at a different residence on Raleigh Street at around 3 a.m. Monday morning, though, so they arrested him again and charged him with failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
