Shoplifting arrest leads to drug charges

What started as a shoplifting complaint ended with police allegedly finding some drugs on a local woman.

Chatham-Kent police said they found some illegal drugs when they were searching a 33-year-old Charing Cross woman who was accused of shoplifting at the Walmart store in Chatham at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

The accused was charged with theft, possession of property obtained by crime, and drug possession. She was released with conditions and a future court date and then turned over to OPP because she was also wanted on some outstanding warrants.
