Maroons travel to Leamington to face Flyers

The Chatham Maroons will look to extend their unbeaten streak to six games Thursday night as they hit the road to take on Leamington.

It’s a tall order for the second-place Maroons, as the third-place Flyers have the best home record in the GOJHL’s Western Conference with 15 wins and only one loss at the Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex so far this season — that was against the first-place London Nationals back on October 25.

Since that loss, the Flyers have been a force to be reckoned with on their own ice, piling up eight straight wins at home, including a 4-1 win over the Maroons on December 6.

The Maroons are riding a hot streak of their own to start 2019 with two wins and a tie through the first three games of the new calendar year — their last loss was on the road against Komoka on December 15.

Chatham’s offence has carried them through that stretch as the team has scored at least four goals in each of its last five games. That offence will be tested in Leamington, though — the Flyers have only allowed four or more goals once in their last 12 games (a 6-4 win over Komoka on November 29).

You can hear tonight’s game on Country 92.9FM/AM 630 CFCO or by clicking here. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
