Before you venture out for the new year, make sure you know what's open.
All municipal offices will close at noon on December 31 and reopen on January 2. Some of these offices include The Health and Family Services building and the Public Health Unit.
Recreational activities such as the Chatham-Kent Museum and the Thames Art Gallery will be closed New Year's Day. All public libraries will also be closed.
Blenheim arena is open for limited bookings on New Year's Eve. Free skates will take place at Blenheim, Dresden, Ridgetown and Wallaceburg arenas. Tilbury arena is open for limited bookings on New Year's Day while all other arenas will be closed.
CK Transit will not be operating on January 1 and there will be no mail delivery.
Garbage and recycling pick up will be delayed by one day.
Police, fire and ambulance services are available as well as emergency rooms at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. However, services such as x-rays, electrocardiograms and ultrasounds will not be functioning for non-emergencies.
If you need to stock up on some adult beverages before the clock strikes midnight, a majority of LCBO stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve and closed on New Year's Day. All beer stores are open until 6 p.m. on December 31 and closed on January 1.
For last minute shopping needs The Downtown Chatham Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and closed Tuesday. A majority of groceries stores will be operating on reduced hours. The Real Canadain Superstore on St. Clair Street N. in Chatham is open 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. New Year's Eve and closed New Years Day. Some Shoppers Drug Marts are open on New Years Day with altered hours. The location on Grand Avenue W in Chatham will be open 8 a.m. until 12 a.m. New Year's Eve and 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. New Year's Day. Chatham Walmart Supercentre will be open until 6 p.m. Monday and closed Tuesday.
Looking for a coffee? Tim Horton hours vary by location and Starbucks in Chatham will be open until 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve and 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
You'll be able to catch a movie on New Year's Day. Galaxy Cinema in Chatham will be operating regular business hours both Monday and Tuesday.
