Arrest made after Gray Street fire

A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a vehicle fire on Gray Street in Chatham.

Police said they identified the Chatham man as a suspect while they were investigating an incident on that street early Tuesday morning.

Officers managed to track him down at 3 a.m. Wednesday and arrested him. He is now being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged in domestic violence investigation

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 23-year-old woman who is accused of assaulting her ex-boyfriend.

Police said the woman showed up at her ex's home in Chatham Tuesday afternoon and refused to leave after they got into an argument.

Officers said the woman is also accused of grabbing various items from inside the home and throwing them at the man. Investigators said they learned this wasn't the first time the woman had allegedly assaulted the man.

A 23-year-old woman of no fixed address was later arrested and charged with two counts of assault, one count of assault with a weapon, and two counts of mischief.

She was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Four arrests on outstanding warrants

Chatham-Kent police arrested four wanted criminals Tuesday in four separate cases.

In the first case, officers arrested a 28-year-old Chatham man at a bank after getting a report about a suspicious person in downtown Chatham. Officers said the man was wanted for breaching the conditions of his probation order.

In the second case, a 26-year-old woman was arrested in Windsor and taken back to Chatham-Kent where she was wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at Walmart.

In the third case, a 38-year-old Wallaceburg man who was wanted for failing to attend court back in November was arrested when he showed up at the courthouse Tuesday morning.

And in the fourth and final case, a 22-year-old Ridgetown man was arrested in connection with several offences including theft, possession of stolen property, and failing to comply with his release conditions.
