Maple City Homes gives financial boost to Chatham's animal shelter

A company dedicated to finding people their dream homes is helping out the Friends of the New Animal Shelter as they build their new home.

Maple City Homes has donated another $5,000 to go towards the new animal shelter in Chatham, located on Park Avenue East.

The firm had previously donated $10,000 towards the animal shelter. They're donating $500 to the cause for every house that gets sold on Summerset Place.

“We’re almost there,” said Lynn McGeachy, project coordinator for the shelter. “Construction on the building will be complete this spring. We just need the final push to make sure we can provide the kind of care our animals deserve.”

Although the Friends of the New Animal Shelter have finished fundraising for the building campaign, funds are still needed to furnish the shelter. According to a media release sent by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, about $75,000 is needed for equipment.
