Man charged with domestic-related offences

A Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault after an argument with his domestic partner.

Police responded to a disturbance at a residence Wednesday night on Longwoods Road, just east of Chatham.

Officers learned the man allegedly assaulted his common-law wife during an argument.

The 68-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and failing to comply with his probation order by consuming alcohol.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with theft

A man was arrested after allegedly stealing a bottle of whiskey from a Chatham LCBO.

Police said the man went into the Wellington Street liquor store and left with a 60-ounce bottle of Canadian Club.

Police said the man fled prior to their arrival. Officers located the man a short distance away and took him into custody.

The 53-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft and released pending a future court date of December 18.

Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE)

Officers reported a clean spot check Wednesday night in Wheatley.

Police said 20 vehicles were stopped and checked on Talbot Road, resulting in no infractions.
