Union Gas is supporting the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation by putting a large donation towards volunteer efforts.
A $20,000 donation was recently made to the CK Hospice Volunteer Program.
“Whether it’s working together on infrastructure projects, contributing as leaders in the business community or supporting local charities and non-profit groups, Union Gas feels strongly about working with our neighbours to make our great communities even better,” said Steve Baker, president of Union Gas. “We support the Chatham-Kent Hospice and the volunteer network initiatives as they are critical to making a real and lasting contribution to our community.”
Melanie Watson, the volunteer coordinator with the hospice, said volunteer efforts in the facility are an important part of the care they provide; adding that volunteers go through specialized training.
"We are very grateful to Union Gas for their generosity," said Watson in a statement. "The funds will help us continue to support our 200 active volunteers who fill a variety of roles.”
