Woman charged with racing on Highway 401 in CK

A London woman won't be driving again for a while after a vehicle was clocked going over 150 kilometres per hour on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

Provincial police said they were conducting radar enforcement near Bloomfield Road at 4 a.m. Wednesday when they observed the northbound motor vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit by over 50 kilometres per hour.

Officers said the 34-years-old woman from London was charged with racing and is due to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on January 9. Police added her driver's licence was suspended and the vehicle impounded for seven days.

Chatham-Kent OPP remind drivers that stunt driving or racing is one of the most serious and reckless forms of aggressive driving, which puts everyone on the road at serious risk of injury or death.
