Staples in Chatham hosts first 'Health and Wellness Day'

Chatham-Kent businesses, both large and small, have joined together in hopes of bringing awareness to healthier lifestyles.

Staples hosted its first Health and Wellness Day on November 13, where four health-based CK businesses set up tables in the store.

Store manager Brian Furtado said the idea came from a company-wide love for showcasing local businesses.

"At Staples, we love to help businesses grow, especially small businesses," said Furtado. "We have a great marketing and printing department that can help with anything from logos to promotional products. We identified and really wanted to give back to the local businesses who have trusted us with their branding and to give them a chance to connect with the community."

Dave Stewart, the owner of Healthy Habitat supplement store, has been in the Chatham area for over 25 years and was happy to be on site for the event.

"It's great. We're all pulling in the same direction and we all have a common cause. We want to help the consumer and help the people of Chatham-Kent," said Stewart.

In March of 2018 Staples hosted a company-wide spotlight on women-owned businesses to celebrate International Women's Day. Furtado said his goal is to host an in-store small business event every four months --with different themes -- in order to create awareness of businesses from around the Chatham-Kent region.
