Man hit by car in in Tilbury

A 60-year-old man should be OK after he was hit by a car in Tilbury while crossing the street.

Police said they were called to the scene just after 7 p.m. Monday after pedestrian was hit while crossing Mill Street. According to officers, a man allegedly crossed when he wasn't supposed to and was struck by a vehicle.

Police said the man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Total damage is estimated at $1,500. There is no word on charges.

Man charged with break and enter

Police caught an alleged thief Monday night in Chatham who's accused of stealing from some local vehicles.

Officers said they received a call of a suspicious person in the Coverdale Street area of Chatham around 11:45 p.m.

According to police, they located the man around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and learned he entered a home on Bedford Street and stole items from vehicles parked on Bedford and Coverdale Street.

A 20-year-old man from Poplar Street in Chatham was charged with break and enter, two counts of theft and two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime.

He was released pending a future court date of December 4.

Executed warrant

On October 2, police located a man allegedly in possession of a stolen vehicle in a Chatham parking lot.

Officers said he was arrested and charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime.

The man failed to attend his court date on October 24 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Police said the man was located an arrested Monday afternoon.

He was released pending a future court date of November 28, 2018.

Man charged with being intoxicated in a public place

Police received a call about an intoxicated man walking in the middle of the road in Dover Township Monday afternoon.

Officers located the man on Winterline Road and took him into custody for his own safety.

The 51-year-old Pain Court man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and was released when sober.

Theft of fishing equipment

Police said fishing equipment and a small boat motor were allegedly stolen from a storage unit over the weekend.

According to officers the theft happened between November 10 at 4 p.m. and November 12 at 10 a.m. Police added an unknown amount of suspects entered a storage unit on Richmond Street in Chatham where they stole roughly $2,000 worth of fishing gear along with the boat motor.

Traffic enforcement

Five motorists were stopped and charged with speeding on Talbot Trail in Dealtown.

Police said the Traffic Unit conducted speed enforcement Monday Morning and want to remind drivers to obey the posted speed limit when travelling through small towns and villages.
