Commercial vehicles targeted during safety blitz

Almost two dozen vehicles were pulled from the road during a recent commercial vehicle enforcement blitz in Chatham-Kent.

Chatham-Kent police said they teamed up with the OPP, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Transportation for the initiative on Monday.

Officers said they inspected 42 vehicles and took 23 of them out of service as a result of their investigations. Five sets of licence plates were also seized and 55 charges were laid for various offences including improper vehicle maintenance, improper licensing, speeding, and distracted driving.

Police are also reminding drivers that officers will continue to carry out similar blitzes throughout the year in an effort to keep area roadways safe.
