Rulmeca expanding in Wallaceburg

The biggest motorized pulley and roller supplier in the world is investing in Chatham-Kent by expanding their facility.

Rulmeca officially unveiled the expansion to their Wallaceburg factory Thursday afternoon.

Mark Long, CEO of Rulmeca, said the expansion isn't necessarily for today, it is more of a preparation for the future in Chatham-Kent.

"We sell our products out of little old Wallaceburg all over the world," Long said. "Not a lot of people know that but we're very proud of that and more people will know about that today."

Long said the 22,000 square foot addition to the facility will allow for more storage. He added it is important because the products are primarily made of steel and need to be indoors to avoid oxidization, which can lead to rust.

"This [expansion] means a lot to use because now all our daily business will be under one roof." Long said. "It's going to increase our efficiencies. We are going to be more of a player in the North American market because of this."

Long added expanding in Wallaceburg is really important to company because the majority of the employees live in Chatham-Kent.

While the expansion didn't create any new jobs right now, Long hopes it will in the future.
