Multiple domestic assaults

A man and woman were charged with domestic-related offences stemming from separate incidents.

The woman was charged Monday night after allegedly assaulting her common-law boyfriend during an argument. Police said they made the arrest after responding to a report of a domestic disturbance in Chatham.

A 24-year-old Chatham woman was charged with assault and will be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police also responded to an incident Sunday afternoon regarding a domestic assault that allegedly took place Saturday night, also in Chatham.

Police said they learned through investigation this wasn't the first incident of domestic violence during the couple's marriage.

Officers located and arrested a 33-year-old Chatham man and charged him with domestic-related offences. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Attempted fraud in Chatham

A man was caught trying to pull a fast one on a bank teller in Chatham by allegedly attempting to cash two stolen cheques back on August 3.

According to police, the teller believed the transaction was suspicious and seized the cheques.

Police were able to identify the man and after issuing a warrant for his arrest, the man turned himself in Monday afternoon.

A 36-year-old Chatham man has been charged with uttering a forged document and was released pending a court appearance on November 13.

Theft of Tools

Police are asking for the public's assistance in helping recover stolen tools.

Officers said sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning an unknown number of suspects broke the window of a van parked on Sandys Street in Chatham.

Police said damages to the car are estimated at $400, but added roughly $1,000 in tools were allegedly stolen as well.
