Police find cocaine, crystal meth during traffic stop

Three people are facing drug-related charges after Chatham-Kent police pulled over a vehicle in Chatham early Monday morning.

Police said officers allegedly found some baggies of cocaine and some crystal methamphetamine after searching the vehicle, which was stopped in the area of Victoria Avenue and Grand Avenue.

Officers said a woman who was in the back seat of the vehicle is accused of trying to hide her face with the hood of her coat in order to avoid being recognized by the officer who was at the scene. She was later arrested for violating a court-imposed curfew.

All three people who were in the vehicle when it was pulled over were also charged with two counts of drug trafficking.

A 45-year-old Leamington woman and a 49-year-old Leamington man were both released with conditions and a future court date. A 32-year-old Chatham woman was taken into custody and was being held there pending a bail hearing.
