Water costs associated with the 2018 International Plowing Match in Pain Court last month have emerged.
The Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission (PUC) held a board meeting Thursday where a report on the IPM's water and wastewater costs was approved.
Tim Sunderland, the PUC general manager, said overall the costs came in below budget.
"We tracked our time and our cost associated to the International Plowing Match to supply potable water to the entire site of vendors and RV sites," he said. "Our total cost for the International Plowing Match to supply the water is $29,022."
Sunderland said the bill will be footed by the Ontario Plowmen's Association.
"The International Plowing Match volunteers did help us with the installation of the water lines, which was a tremendous help and reduced our costs tremendously, so that's where the savings ended up being," he said.
Sunderland also mentioned that the PUC started planning for the event in the summer of 2017, and added that he's pleased with the efforts of the PUC staff.
"We did 194 water samples, we had 29 leaks, and seven breaks," he said. "My staff were on site at the International Plowing Match 24/7 to respond to the water emergencies that took place."
The IPM and Rural Expo was a four-day event, which saw almost 80,000 people attend.
