Transport truck pulled from Highway 401 after traffic complaint

Chatham-Kent OPP have taken a transport truck off the road after a close inspection uncovered a "major defect."

Police said the vehicle was stopped on Highway 401 near Victoria Road at around 9 a.m. on Saturday after officers received a traffic complaint about an eastbound tractor trailer that wasn't staying in its lane.

Officers said the vehicle was later towed from the scene after it failed a commercial motor vehicle inspection.

The driver, a 56-year-old man from Mississauga, has been charged with three offences under the Highway Traffic Act in connection with the case including failing to enter a defect in a daily inspection report.
