If you’ve ever been a resident of Chatham-Kent, you can submit something to the 2018 Eye for Art show.
The show is in its eighth biennial year and acts as a fundraiser for ARTscape. It’s a juried exhibition and sale which takes original and recent work. The work must not have been shown at the Thames Art Gallery before.
“There could be anything from portraits to landscapes,” said gallery curator Pamela Edmonds. “I think it really provides a vision of the community [and shows] how the community really represents itself but also how it’s envisioning the future.”
Artists can submit up to three pieces of work for a $35.00 fee. They must be dropped off at the gallery on Nov. 1 and 2, be ready to be hung and be priced for sale. Should they sell during the show, the gallery takes a 30 per cent commission.
Edmonds says the exhibition will showcase life in the community.
“A lot of times artists use their art to envision alternate worlds, not only the future but the past as well,” said Edmonds. “I think it will be a good snapshot of C-K life.”
